Raised in Dallas, Texas, Rev. Jerry Lee Butler is an ordained Elder in full connection within the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry holds a deep love for teaching, spiritual formation, and the life of the mind. Before entering full-time ministry, Rev. Jerry spent 33 years in the telecommunications industry, working for the world’s largest telecom supplier. Jerry holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. with a focus in Market Research from LeTourneau University, and a Master of Divinity (Summa Cum Laude) from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
Over the past 15 years, Rev. Jerry has served United Methodist congregations in various roles—primarily in Christian Education and Formation—and as the lead pastor of two rural churches in North Texas.
Rev. Jerry’s areas of research include Early Church history and theology, the writings and life of St. Augustine of Hippo, Koine Greek, and Eastern Orthodox expressions of Christianity. Rev. Jerry is passionate about ecumenical interfaith dialogue and helping people “think well” about their faith—engaging heart, mind, and soul in the journey of discipleship.
Rev Jerry and his wife Shannon are the proud parents of three adult daughters and a son.
